"observer n" is an installation in which multiple systems autonomously operate in a reciprocal action that involves also the audience.
The work consists of four parts - a device reading black and white dots printed onto tape; devices reading color LEDs on a rail suspended from the ceiling, along with three types of videos visualizing the informational structures generated by these; a sound system that locally generates sounds in response to the devices and spatial conditions; and a sound system using oscillators to generate sounds from the surrounding space itself. Although basically operating independently, the systems are loosely connected in a network to produce together one environmental or life-cycle kind of sphere.
Next to the perspective of observation from outside the network as indicated in the title, "observer n" reflects at once an approach aiming to grasp the connections between the parts of the work at large in a bottom-up manner from each individual system.
