Study of Live works BANETO

Co-production with Akiyoshidai International Art Village
Remodeling performing arts around the human body and media technology

"Study of Live works Baneto" is a group comprising choreographers, dancers, musicians and other creative individuals pursuing the "live" qualities of dance and musical performances in artistic expression in general. Realized during a long-term residency in Yamaguchi Prefecture as a co-production between YCAM and Akiyoshidai International Art Village, this live performance was inspired by the culture and tradition of the Yamaguchi region.
The title is derived from "running chords", a type of chord progression with
continuously changing bass lines as used in jazz among others. This work featuring a variety of stage sets, visuals, music and choreographies that keep changing at high speed hinted at new possibilities in performing arts in which various forms of expression are intricately tangled around the human body and media technology.

Study of Live works BANETO

Continually changing dance around continuous strings of motifs

This is a live performance incorporating manifoldly layered, interlinked, and then again separated visuals, music and dance.
Against this backdrop of various continuously changing elements, animal suits, open reels, three-dimensional objects and other rather odd stage props are each used as sequences for filtering out the "phenomenon of dance". Furthermore, a large jack-up screen system, drums, guitars and other acoustic musical instruments, ten projectors and five cameras, and additionally, choreographies worked out in a relay style add to the dramatically changing scenery of motifs illustrated in the course of the show.
